Coaching Requirements
All persons on the bench/in the dressing room for ages 5-17 will be required to register for insurance purposes. As 5-7's require more help in the dressing room, parents will be asked to have them dress at home until they are comfortable dressing themselves. As well as utilizing the skate tying benches outside of dressing room 1.
Coaches and Bench helpers are required to have Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders, or the newly developed "First Shift Forward- Coach" from Hockey Canada as well as a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check. Both can be obtained through the local RCMP dispatch, be sure to tell them it is for volunteer purposes.
Coaches are now required to also have the following:
U8: Hockey Canada Coach 1, Online- Recorded/On-Demand
U11-U18: Hockey Canada Coach 2, Online - Recorded/On-Demand
Each team requires two Hockey Canada Safety Program- Level 1 trained persons
Each team will be allowed three SLRHA paid (meaning insurance and RIS) coaches/bench help per roster. SLRHA will also reimburse coaches for their coaching requirements. If you have not completed the above requirements you will be asked to leave the bench or change room.
This year we will be soliciting help in the form of Junior Coaches from our older teams to assist our coaches of the younger age groups on ice.
Upholding these requirements is a part of maintaining our sanctioning with Hockey Alberta and continuing to run our program.

2026/2027 Registration will open July 15th
Early Bird July 15th - August 31st $450/skater Ages 8-17
Regular Registration Sept 1st-15th $475/skater Ages 8-17

Registration for skaters in the 5-7 (U8) born between January 1st 2021 and Dec 31st 2019 will be $375/skater for Early Bird and $400/skater for Regular.
Regular Registration Ends September 15th
Payment plans are available through the registration portal. By opening registration early this year we are offering the option for breaking fees into five payments versus the previous four. All payments will be due by September 22nd 2026.
There will be a $15 fee on registration for your skaters sock order. Socks will be ordered for your player upon registration and are yours to keep.
Volunteer/Jersey Bond
Parents will be asked to write and hand in a post dated cheque (March 14th, 2027) to your coach upon your first practice. Cheques will be returned to parents at the final game of the season when volunteer hours and jerseys are returned.
